Interactive Map of Current Marijuana Laws by State

According to NORML (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws), marijuana is the third most popular recreational drug in America (behind only alcohol and tobacco), and has been used by nearly 100 million Americans. Research finds that dependency rates for marijuana are quite a bit lower than those for other substances.

Government surveys indicate that some 25 million Americans have smoked marijuana in the past year, and more than 14 million do so regularly despite harsh laws against its use. These laws can be seen on an interactive map, which you can access here.

The map allows you to click on a state and ascertain what its laws are, or filter the map for information on specific types of laws (as shown in the key below the map).

In addition to the relevant laws, when you pull up a state you also get links to data on state arrest rates and crop estimates, a guide to marijuana lawyers by location, current news on marijuana legal developments, and more.
